Hello all.
Hope everyone has fully recovered from their champagne hangovers and sweet headaches from all the chocolate covered strawberries and nougat filled candies consumed on the day of love. If you have not yet moved through it all, I wish you a speedy recovery.
I have spent a bit of time over the past week reflecting on Valentine's Day, and the expectations that seem to come with it. And then I spent time thinking about why it's not a huge deal to me. I mean, don't get me wrong, when someone wants to take me out and spoil me for Valentine's, I'll let them. It's just not as exciting for me to be shown one day out of the year that I matter. Bring that energy throughout the year, and you get the best of me. I spent years thinking that as a woman, I was expected to want things on that day, and be disappointed if things didn't happen in a specific way. But as I have gotten older, I learned that my expectations are determined by what I want in life. Not what society says I should expect. So here I sit, shouting to my little community about how little I care about Valentine's Day, and how much more I care about every other day where you have plenty of small moments when you get the opportunity to show me that I matter.
All that being said, I hope everyone still had an amazing day, and spectacular weekend.
Please feel free to comment your thoughts on my page. I welcome them.
Kisses
